With the release of Dynamics NAV 5.0, Microsoft added SMTP support. They now have an automation control that will connect to a SMTP server and send mail. This means no more outlook issues when trying to email from NAV.
The automation control can easily be used in previous versions of NAV without too much work. Just copy the dll and register it and you're good to go.
